Can XLM Break Above $0.20? Meridian and the Fed Decision Take Center Stage

KTX News cover: XLM approaches a 20-cent resistance marker ahead of Meridian and the Federal Reserve decision

XLM faces a crowded event window: Stellar’s Meridian conference opens in Lisbon on October 28, while the Federal Reserve concludes its policy meeting the same day. Both could change the market’s appetite for risk. Neither, by itself, resolves the weakness in XLM’s daily trend.

At the 0.1693 USDT level on KTX’s XLM/USDT chart, reaching 0.20 would require a gain of about 18.1%. The immediate task is more modest: hold the recent lows and recover the price zones lost during October’s decline. Until that happens, 0.20 remains an upside scenario rather than a confirmed breakout.

Before $0.20, XLM has a downtrend to repair

The daily chart traces an advance from roughly 0.16 in August to above 0.23 in September, followed by a sequence of lower highs. An October rebound stalled around 0.18–0.185 before sellers pushed the price back toward 0.17. That failed rebound matters: it shows where buyers most recently lost control.

The 0.166–0.170 area is the first zone to watch. Holding it would allow a base to develop, but a small bounce there would not reverse the broader pattern. Recovering 0.175–0.185 would offer stronger evidence that the latest selling wave is easing. Beyond that sits 0.19–0.20, where earlier trading left substantial overhead resistance.

These are chart-derived areas, not precise barriers. A brief trade above 0.20 can still leave a failed breakout if the daily candle closes below it. A stronger sequence would be a close above the zone, a pullback that holds, and renewed buying after the initial news reaction.

What Meridian can add to the investment case

Meridian 2026 runs on October 28–29 at Convento do Beato in Lisbon. The published agenda includes institutional use of digital assets, payment infrastructure and Stellar’s technical roadmap. As of October 26, the main conference has not opened.

There are already concrete developments to discuss. Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams are live on Stellar, giving applications additional market-data infrastructure. Separately, Ascend and M1X Global announced an institutional repo transaction using USDM1 as collateral. The transaction was renewed programmatically once per hour between October 16 and 19, for a total of 72 renewals.

For XLM, the useful distinction is between an integration becoming available and customers using it repeatedly. A demonstration can establish that a transaction works. Sustained settlement activity, recurring participants and capital staying on the network would provide stronger evidence of commercial demand.

Even then, network activity and token value do not move in a fixed ratio. XLM pays network fees, funds smart-contract rent and supports account reserves, according to Stellar’s documentation. But a large stablecoin payment does not require buying the same dollar value of XLM. Conference headlines become more useful when they explain actual usage and its connection to the native asset.

The Fed decision could overwhelm the conference reaction

The October FOMC meeting is scheduled for October 27–28. The statement is due at 2 p.m. U.S. Eastern time on October 28, followed by a press conference at 2:30 p.m. The policy decision has not yet been announced.

The direction of the rate decision is only part of the market response. Investors also react to what officials imply about the next meetings. Easier policy can support risk assets, but a widely anticipated move may already be reflected in prices; cautious guidance can offset an apparently favorable headline. Conversely, an unchanged rate can be received positively if the accompanying message is less restrictive than expected.

This makes attribution difficult during Meridian. If Bitcoin and most large altcoins rise together, an XLM rally may primarily reflect a broader change in risk appetite. A more convincing Stellar-specific response would include improving XLM/BTC performance and strength that persists after the first market-wide move. Compare performance over the same interval before attributing a rally to conference news.

Three paths through the event window

Scenario Price behavior to watch What it would suggest
Recovery gains traction 0.166–0.170 holds; price recovers 0.175–0.185 and then challenges 0.19–0.20 The sequence of lower highs is beginning to change. Holding above 0.20 would strengthen the case for a move toward 0.21–0.22.
News-driven bounce fades A sharp rally stalls below resistance or quickly loses the reclaimed zone Attention has increased, but sustained demand has not yet repaired the trend.
Support gives way A daily close below the recent support area is followed by a failed recovery The near-term rebound case weakens, bringing the earlier 0.155–0.160 base back into view.

Volume should help test these paths. Recent bars are much smaller than those accompanying the August advance. If the current daily candle is still open, its accumulated volume should not be treated as a completed session or compared mechanically with full-day averages. A breakout accompanied by several completed sessions of stronger turnover would carry more weight than a single spike.

Execution matters during those spikes. A rising last price can coexist with thin bids and offers. KTX’s explanation of liquidity and slippage shows why available quantity matters alongside the headline price. Visible buy walls can also disappear; the order-book guide explains how displayed orders differ from completed trades.

On the KTX XLM/USDT spot market, follow the daily close, actual trades and depth around the reclaimed zones. The next useful evidence arrives with Meridian on October 28–29 and the Fed statement on October 28. A move toward 0.20 becomes more credible when buyers retain those gains after both events.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Fed announcement in Beijing time?

The scheduled statement falls at 2 a.m. Beijing time on October 29, 2026, with the press conference at 2:30 a.m. The U.S. release uses Eastern daylight time on that date, so the difference is 12 hours.

Should confirmation use a daily or weekly close?

Match the timeframe to the thesis. A daily close can identify an initial change; a weekly close can test whether it survives several sessions. Waiting for the latter gives slower confirmation and can mean a higher price. Neither removes the possibility of a failed breakout.

Does the planned Bell upgrade mean millisecond ledgers are already here?

No. Bell, Protocol 30, is scheduled for testnet and mainnet votes on November 3 and November 23, subject to validator approval. Its changes to ledger timestamps prepare for faster ledgers; the upgrade does not itself deliver millisecond block production. See the official Bell announcement.

Must a stablecoin payment on Stellar first be converted entirely into XLM?

No. The payment asset can remain a stablecoin. XLM covers network fees and applicable reserves or rent, which can also be handled through supported sponsorship arrangements. Payment value and the amount of XLM needed to process it are different quantities.
