Ki Young Ju Says HYPE Leads Analyst Bullishness: Can Sentiment Turn Into Buying?

CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju put HYPE at the top of the bullish conversation on October 18, describing it as the crypto asset with the most optimistic analyst sentiment. The harder question is whether those views can bring buyers back after a substantial retreat. In the accompanying KTX HYPE/USDT daily chart, the token is quoted at 79.8745 USDT, up 1.88% over 24 hours, but still below the trading areas it occupied before the latest decline.

The contrast matters more than the ranking alone. A positive consensus can draw attention to a token and reinforce its investment case. It cannot tell us how much capital analysts have committed, whether new investors are replacing sellers, or whether the next rebound will survive its first pullback.

A ranking of opinions, not a record of purchases

In his October 18 post, Ki highlighted HYPE's position in the analyst-sentiment comparison he shared. That is an attributed reading of a particular comparison, rather than proof that every analyst prefers HYPE or that the token leads the entire market on every measure.

CryptoQuant's published methodology classifies public commentary by direction, combines recent views at analyst level and weights their contribution using its accuracy scores. Neutral commentary does not vote. The displayed percentages map the resulting index onto a scale; they are neither a simple headcount nor the probability of a price increase. A standardized sentiment score likewise measures unusually positive or negative views relative to that sentiment series' history, not how far the token's price has moved.

There is also a gap between expressing a view and acting on it. An analyst may already own HYPE, prefer waiting for a lower entry, or be describing a long-term case while expecting near-term volatility. Several analysts can reach similar conclusions from the same information. Agreement can therefore grow without an equivalent new wave of orders.

Fee-driven buying gives the story substance, with limits

HYPE does have a demand mechanism that goes beyond social attention. Under Hyperliquid's fee rules, the Assistance Fund automatically converts trading fees into HYPE as part of the network's execution, and HYPE held in the fund is burned. Fees also flow to HLP and deployers, so it would be inaccurate to describe every dollar of platform fees as a dollar of HYPE buying.

That mechanism helps explain why investors connect activity on Hyperliquid with the token's prospects. But an existing buyer is not necessarily a growing buyer. The useful evidence would be fee generation and actual purchases over comparable periods, considered alongside tokens offered for sale. A bullish post does not itself increase either figure, and recurring purchases can coexist with a falling price if sellers are willing to supply more at prevailing levels.

The price still has to repair the retreat toward $80

The daily sequence provides a useful counterweight to the upbeat narrative. HYPE previously traded into the upper $90s, then lost ground through a series of rebounds that failed to restore the earlier highs. Its latest move near $80 is a recovery attempt within that retreat, rather than evidence that the entire decline has reversed.

The panel records a rolling 24-hour high of 80.4565 and low of 76.209. The nearby $80–$82 area is therefore a first zone in which to judge the repair: getting above it and remaining there would carry more weight than briefly touching it. Beyond that, roughly $85–$88 contains earlier trading and rebound activity. It is a subsequent area to assess, not a promised destination.

On the downside, the recent $76–$78 area matters because sustained trading below it would weaken the attempt to establish a base. These are approximate chart regions, not exact instructions to enter or exit. The day candle's displayed low of 78.7045 is also distinct from the rolling 24-hour low; the two figures cover different periods.

Buying becomes more convincing when it survives the pullback

The volume panel shows 1.9K for the displayed candle against five-, ten- and twenty-candle volume averages of 5.3K, 6.0K and 5.3K. If the current daily candle is incomplete, that comparison cannot establish that the finished session has weak volume. The averages describe trading activity, not moving averages of price.

A better test is whether completed recovery sessions attract broader participation and whether quieter pullbacks preserve the ground gained. More volume with little upward progress could instead indicate that buyers are meeting substantial supply. The displayed 24-hour turnover of about 385,393 USDT is trading value on this pair, not net new capital or a guarantee of execution depth. KTX's explanation of liquidity, slippage and trade execution develops that distinction.

What changes nextWhat it would add to the case
Price holds above the $80–$82 region after a pullbackEvidence that buyers can retain recovered ground.
Completed recovery sessions show sustained participationBetter support than an isolated price spike or an unfinished volume bar.
Fees and actual HYPE purchases rise over comparable periodsA measurable improvement in the mechanism behind part of the bullish narrative.
Price repeatedly fails to recover the nearby range, or loses $76–$78A weaker repair despite positive commentary.

The broader market can still do most of the work

HYPE could rise alongside Bitcoin without attracting a distinct new source of demand. Comparing returns over matching periods, and observing whether HYPE holds its recovered range while Bitcoin pauses, would help separate independent strength from a general rebound. This is the same issue explored in KTX's analysis of SOL, LINK and their relationship with the broader market.

A strong consensus can also raise the bar for good news: if many participants already accept the bullish case, the next advance needs fresh buying rather than another repetition of it. Readers following that test can monitor HYPE/USDT spot trading on KTX or create a KTX account to review availability and trading terms. The next useful evidence is a range reclaimed and defended, supported by completed trading activity and verifiable fee-driven purchases. Sentiment has supplied the argument; those observations will test it.
