CHIP’s latest breakout has given way to a sharp reversal. In KTX’s CHIP/USDT market view, the token trades at $0.04446, down 20.08% over the rolling 24-hour period and close to the $0.04374 session low. A return to $0.07 would require a gain of about 57.4% from that quote.
The immediate question is whether buyers can rebuild a base around $0.044 and reclaim $0.05. Until that happens, $0.07 remains a recovery scenario with several resistance bands in the way.
A sharp rejection puts the old range back in play
The daily price structure shows an advance from roughly $0.02–$0.03, followed by repeated swings through the $0.04–$0.06 area. The latest surge approached $0.07, but successive red candles surrendered most of that move. CHIP has returned to an area where it previously traded before the breakout.
The selected daily candle opens at $0.05106 and shows a high of $0.05132, a low of $0.04374 and a latest reading of $0.04446. That is approximately 12.9% below its opening price. It is a different measurement from the rolling 24-hour decline of 20.08%; neither number should be substituted for the other.
The latest quote sits only about 1.6% above the displayed low. Buyers have little distance from that low to work with, while the failure to retain the recent breakout leaves the burden of confirmation on a rebound.
Reclaiming $0.05 is the first recovery test
The $0.0437–$0.0450 area is the immediate battleground. Repeated tests that stop producing lower lows would suggest selling pressure is being absorbed. A brief bounce within this band would still leave CHIP below the level from which the latest daily decline began.
The first meaningful repair would be a completed daily close above approximately $0.0500–$0.0515, followed by a pullback that holds that zone. This would put buyers back above the round-number threshold and the selected candle’s opening area. An intraday spike that quickly falls back underneath would carry less weight.
| Price zone | Role in the recovery case |
|---|---|
| $0.0437–$0.0450 | Immediate base; sustained weakness below it would expose lower trading ranges |
| $0.0500–$0.0515 | First reclaim zone; holding a retest would strengthen the rebound |
| $0.0570–$0.0600 | Next supply band, including the displayed 24-hour high and earlier price activity |
| $0.0680–$0.0700 | Recent peak area; a later test depends on clearing the lower resistance bands |
These are approximate areas drawn from the visible price structure, rather than exact execution prices. What matters is whether trading starts to hold above them after the first contact.
The route to $0.07 runs through $0.057–$0.060
Even a recovery to $0.05 would leave substantial work unfinished. From $0.04446, reaching $0.05 requires about 12.5%, while reaching $0.06 requires about 35.0%. The displayed 24-hour high is $0.05723, while earlier swings also encountered selling near $0.06. This makes $0.057–$0.060 a plausible second test of whether demand can absorb supply left by the reversal.
A stronger sequence would combine a reclaimed $0.05, a higher low and sustained trading above that second band. Repeated rejection below $0.06 would instead leave the advance vulnerable to another lower high.
The percentage hurdle explains why a steep fall does not automatically create an easy recovery trade. Falling from $0.07 to $0.04446 represents a decline of about 36.5%, whereas returning to $0.07 requires a 57.4% gain on the smaller base. A target’s familiarity does not provide the demand needed to reach it.
A rebound needs buyers to stay
The price decline is steep, but the volume panel does not yet establish a completed capitulation event. It displays about 3.9 million CHIP for the selected daily candle, against volume averages of approximately 5.8 million over five periods and 5.9 million over ten. If the candle is still forming, its final volume may differ.
A more convincing recovery would show expanding activity as resistance is reclaimed, with less aggressive selling on subsequent pullbacks. Rising turnover without progress above resistance can also reflect two-way churn or sellers meeting demand. Volume alone cannot identify which wallets are distributing tokens.
The page’s roughly 331,854 USDT of rolling 24-hour turnover uses a different unit and window from the candle’s CHIP volume. Neither figure measures cash leaving the project. KTX’s explanation of crypto liquidity is relevant here: completed trades do not guarantee bids will remain available during the next wave of selling.
The visible book leans toward the sell side, but orders can be filled, added or cancelled. Persistent bid replenishment after trades matters more than one displayed ratio. The guide to order-book depth explains that distinction.
October token claims add a supply test
CHIP is the governance token of USD.AI. Its current documentation assigns holders decisions over collateral, loan pricing and protocol rules, and states that CHIP staking is not currently used for protocol functions.
USD.AI’s October 14 update says eight-month ICO Level Up participants can claim unlocked CHIP from October 15. Separately, 225 million CHIP, or 2.25% of total supply, is allocated to Season 2 rewards. Those claims are scheduled to open October 20 at 15:00 UTC, without lockup or vesting.
These dates create a reason to watch supply absorption. They do not establish how many tokens have been claimed, transferred to trading venues or sold. Calling the decline an airdrop dump would require transaction evidence. The market test is whether demand can absorb available tokens while price holds its base and begins reclaiming resistance.
A lost base would delay the recovery case
Sustained trading below roughly $0.0437 would weaken the immediate stabilization case. The next visible areas to assess are around $0.040 and, farther down, the earlier $0.036–$0.038 swing-low region. They are potential reaction areas, not guaranteed floors. A failed attempt to regain $0.05 would also leave sellers in control of the broader rebound.
Fast moves can widen the gap between a displayed quote and an actual fill. The guide to slippage during volatile trading explains why execution conditions matter alongside a chart level. For the next leg, the useful signals are a base that survives renewed selling, a held reclaim of $0.05 and stronger demand through $0.057–$0.060. Without that sequence, the distance to $0.07 remains a measure of the damage to repair.
